Chinese Movie Weeks Sept.5 - Sept. 9, 2007
The Finn-Sino Culture, Education & Technology Association will organize Chinese movie weeks in Helsinki, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Turku and Oulu from August 31 to September 16 in collaboration with the Arkadin film club, film centers in Pirkanmaa and Oulu, as well as China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, SARFT.
This year, the selected five films will star some of China's most prolific actors in stories of love and romance set in various locations, from the hustle and bussle of the largest metropolises to the tranquility of territories inhabited by some of the nation's ethnic minority groups. Emotions run high and love is the ultimate goal of the characters, for whom the ends seem to justify the means. Fact and fiction collide in a critically acclaimed portrayal of the ordeals of men in the world's most populous country, as they discover that a spouse is increasingly hard to come by.
The movies will be shown in Jyväskylä at the It-Dynamo Sept. 5 - Sept. 9. The films have English subtitles and are suitable for adults 18 and over. Tickets cost 2 euros.
