Qiao Shan is an internationallly acclaimed performer, who has dedicated her life to promoting Chinese guqin music around the world. She specializes in lyrical guqin music, which integrates classical poetry with singing and playing music.

Qiao Shan has lived in Canada for a number of years and performed at numerous international concert halls. Making guqin music known to foreign audiences is a calling for her, which is why she has taken part in many international music productions with varying, and even surprising themes.

Guqin is the oldest and most traditional Chinese string instrument with a delicate and quiet tone. Its lowest note matches that of the cello. Traditionally the guqin has been the intrument of choice of the cultivated classes which is why it has been coined the ”instrument of saints.” This seven-stringed instrument was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003.

Qiao Shan will provide music for Zeng Laide's performance The Dance of Ink and Music - Calligraphy and Music at the Chinese Culture Festival.
