Chinese new year 2007 at Tampere and Helsinki
The Chinese New Year was welcomed in Tampere at Tallipiha's traditional winter happening! According to the Chinese lunar calendar, on February 18th, the year of the dog turned into the pig's year. Nearly 30 Chinese artists arrived especially from China to perform with the kids' favourite clown, Riesa-Pelle, in the event
The colourful lion- and dragondances which the Chinese believe will bring lots of happiness and success for the coming year entertained both children and grown-ups.
There were also horse and carriage rides, dog sled plus pony riding. The shops in Tallipiha were open, and there was pea soup, sweet pancakes and sausages to enjoy.
The event was organized by Finn-Sino Culture, Education & Technology Exchange Association, Tampere city cultural office, Beijing city and the Culture section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Finland.
